There are five main sections of the Search & Filter view in InVision Space Manager
- The Navigation Drawer - Allows you to select different entity types to view in the Results Grid and Results Map
- The App Bar - Allows you to Search, Filter, and Navigate to other parts of the InVision system
- The Results Grid - Allows you to view and sort records for each Entity Type as well as drill down into details of a specific record
- The Results Map - Shows you the location of the records for the selected entity type on a map
- The Actions Menu - Allows you to share a link or make Bulk Edits to data displayed in the Results Grid
To select a Focus Entity Type in the Navigation Drawer, click on an Entity Type Icon and the application will load all records for that Entity. The list of available configured Entities will be present in the Navigation Drawer, and if you need to know exactly what any of the icons represent you can open the Navigation Drawer to see their descriptions. To do this, click on the expand menu icon and the drawer will open.
Once the Navigation Drawers is open, you can read a description of each Entity. To close the Navigation bar, click the close icon as show in the image below.
The App Bar has several important features that include:
To search for a record you must first select the Focus Entity Type that you would like to search for in the Navigation Drawer. You can then enter a search query in the Search bar, this will make it so only records that match your search term appear in the Results Grid.
To Filter the records listed in the Results Grid, click on the Filter icon located next to the Search bar. This will turn on Filtering for the application, and provide a menu of available filter fields which users can apply to records in the Results Grid. To turn off Filtering you can click the Filter icon again, and all records will return to the Results Grid. To clear filters and start a new set, click the "Clear Filters" button to the right of the active filters.
To navigate back to InVision Home, click on the "Home" icon in the top left corner in the App Bar. Once you are back at the InVision Home page you can select a different application to use, or log out.
To view information such as the Version number of the InVision Space Manager application, the link to a quick Product Tour, User Manuals, or a link to PenBay Solutions for help, select the About menu item found in the top right corner of the app bar
To log out of the InVision Space Manager application, and InVision entirely, select the Logout menu item in the top right corner of the App Bar
It is important to note that the Results Grid can look slightly different depending on which Focus Entity Type is selected, but has the same functionality. After selecting a Focus Entity Type in the Navigation Drawer you should be able to view, sort, and drill down into records for that Entity Type in the Results Grid. To sort records based on a field simply click on the column header that you wish to sort on. The first time you click on a column header it will sort records alphabetically A-Z, click the same column header again to sort alphabetically Z-A, and click it a third time to return to the default order. To drill down into an individual record and see more detailed information and related entity types for that record, click on the "i" information button on the right hand side of the Results Grid for that record.
When you select an Entity that has a location, you often want to understand the location of records to confirm you have the right item to begin working on. The Results context map will show you the locations of all current results grid records on a map in the Results Map pane. If there are several records in close proximity to each other a number will appear at the clustered point on the map where they are located indicating how many records are located at that point. When you click on an individual row, the map will highlight that record on the map so you can understand where it is.
NOTE - The Results Map does not appear for the Space and Employee Focus Entity Types
Click on the Actions Menu to access available actions for the Entity you are working with. This includes the ability to Share, Bulk Update, and Report on the records in your current filter set.
The Share action will generate a link to your current application state, which includes Search terms, Filters, and Sorting that you have used so that when shared with another party they will view the same thing when they navigate to the shared link.
To make Bulk Updates to a set of records, first Search and Filter the records in the Results Grid so that only the records you wish to edit are listed. Then use the "Bulk Edit' menu item in the Actions Menu menu. This will allow you to make edits to all of these records at one time. Read more in the Editing section.
Provides access to the Reports for the current Entity type. From the Reports Dialog, you can select from available reports, which include both filtered reports as well as reports for all records.
Export the Search & Filter results shown in the Results Grid to an Excel file.
