Overview
InVision has always supported published view bys which let you render your facility entities by business data values, but now users can also create their own custom view bys. These User Defined View bys are created through a simple wizard dialog, which lets users pick values for fill and border, select the colors they want to use, and save it with a name. Anytime a user wants to use that viewby, it shows up in the list right next to the published ones.
This capability lets users communicate very specific information, and save a viewby for as long, or as short, as you need it. The wizard will only show data values currently visible, so it’s especially good for large datasets with lots of categories.
How to Create and Access User defined Viewbys
Types of Viewbys
- Published View by - Whenever a Floor is visible in Details View, users can select the active viewby from the View by control in the map. The standard view bys listed at the top of the picklist are Published View by which everyone across the organization can see.
- User Defined View by - When a user creates a User Defined View by, they are listed below the Published Viewby in the drop-down. There is also a menu item at the bottom of the drop-down to Create a new User Defined View By
Creating User Defined View Bys
To create a new User Defined View by, select the Create New View by menu item at the bottom of the View by Menu. This launches the User Defined View by creation wizard, as seen in the video above.
Using the User Defined View by wizard, a user can create the following:
- Name
- Attribute Field - the available fields to create new view bys for
- Fill - For each attribute value visible in the current floorplan view, a row will appear in the wizard with a check-box and a color selector. To have that value included in your viewby, leave the check-box checked. To remove a value from your viewby, un-check the check-box next to that value. For each value you want to include you can choose a color by clicking on the color swatch to the right. Use the dialog to select a standard color, or to fine tune the color you want.
- Border - Often times you want to include a border color in addition to a Fill color. For each attribute value visible in the current floorplan view, a row will appear in the wizard with a check-box and a color selector. To have that value included in your viewby, leave the check-box checked. To remove a value from your viewby, un-check the check-box next to that value. For each value you want to include you can choose a color by clicking on the color swatch to the right. Use the dialog to select a standard color, or to fine tune the color you want.
- Default colors - Represents the default color of records not being rendered in your user defined viewby.
