Overview
The InVision system has a number of unique concepts which may use terms unfamiliar to new users. This glossary provides a quick overview of some of those key terms and how they are used across InVision.
General Terms
Entity
The core business objects which are configured into Apps for end users. An entity represents a business data element and all the information needed to use it in InVision. Building, Floor, and Space are all examples of core InVision entities, and your organization can add custom entities to reflect the business data you want to use in InVision.
Viewby
A viewby is a way to understand information visually by rendering it in the map based on the underlying data. The name comes from the ability to view your data by a particular classification. As a user you might way, I want to View my buildings By occupancy, so InVision provides you with a viewby to show you your building data using that dimension. There are also published viewbys and user-defined viewbys. Published viewbys are created by your InVision administrator and made available through apps to all users. User-defined viewbys are viewbys which an end user can create themselves in certain applications.
Entity Type Group
Simply put, think of these as 'group layers'. In InVision you may have multiple entities that participate in a system together, and you need an easy way to group them to search, toggle visibility, and add to apps. Entity Type Groups are the technical term for creating and managing these Group Layers.
App
InVision provide different applications for different types of users, and your organization can configure as many of these as they want. An 'app' is a particular application configuration which is published for users, and shows up when they log into Home. Apps are based on different 'App Templates', and configured to include data, capabilities, and security for who can access it.
App Template
InVision is a configurable system which lets different organizations create and manage apps to support their end users. This includes a number of different Application Templates which can be used in InVision for configuring data and capabilities into new Apps. App Template is just a shortened name for Application Template.
Home
When a business user logs into InVision, they arrive at a place where they can see all their Apps, Links, and KPI Cards. This is what's called InVision Home, a place that lets you start your work and where you return between tasks.
KPI Card
KPI stands for Key Performance Indicator, and a KPI Card is a capability which InVision provides for tracking the things you care about. KPI Cards can be created by end users based on Saved Filters, and they show a live view of whatever data matches that filter. Users can see and manage them in Home.
Saved Filter
Certain App Templates provide the ability for business users to create composite filters on their data, which is a powerful way to ask questions of diverse business datasets. For any of the filter combinations created, users can choose to Save them for use later. These Saved Filters can be applied in the Apps they were created in, and can also be used to create a KPI Card in Home.

The link to understanding system calculations just sends me back to this glossary page
Are there definitions and system info anywhere for the following terms / fields?
Assignable
Organization Assignable
Availability - Can you specifically explain how this is different than Assignable? Could be useful to have this explained as part of the definition
Occupancy
Vacancy
Physical Capacity v. Space Capacity? What is each field and how are they different?
Just updated that link, thanks for the heads up Andrew!
Hi Andrew, There are a couple of in-depth articles which describe those terms:
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!
